H. Norman Abramson is an American engineer and scientist. He is internationally regarded in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics, with specific expertise in fluid dynamics. ==Early life and education== Abramson completed his undergraduate and masters work at Stanford University in 1950 and 1952 and received his PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in1956. He began his career as an associate professor of aeronautical engineering at Texas A&M University before joining Southwest Research Institute where he eventually rose to Executive Vice President. Abramson was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in 1976.
